Strategy deployment and organizational development

This 5-day course introduces key mechanisms for developing and implementing effective strategies and building agile organizations.

Key topics are structures for strategy implementation, process management, value stream management, Balanced Scorecard, OKR, Hoshin Kanri and process design.

The course content is identical to the Business Black Belt course with the exception of the data analysis session (2 days).

Important topics in this course:

  1. Strategic planning and implementation: Learn how to design the strategy process and effectively define and implement strategic initiatives.
  2. Agile governance structure: Design a governance structure for operational control, re-planning and continuous improvement.
  3. Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and OKR: Use BSC and OKR for the best possible strategic planning and implementation.
  4. Business Process Management (BPM): Use BPM to focus strategy development, ensure operational control and drive continuous improvement.
  5. Value Stream Management (VSM): Use VSM to improve end-to-end performance of products and services.
  6. Operational Excellence: Design a program with processes and roles for targeted development of organizational performance.
  7. Digitization projects: Use recognized improvement methods and tools for successful implementation of digitalization projects (including ERP and CRM).

Summary of the course content

This course introduces BPM, BSC, VSM and the strategy deployment process based on Hoshin Kanri from Lean. Best practices for establishing and developing an internal business development program (strategic improvement program) are also included.

  • Course content

    The course introduces key methods and tools for strategic analysis and development of the organization.

    Themes included:

    • What a Business System is and why it is important.
    • What the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is and how it can be used for strategy development, communication and implementation.
    • What Business Process Management (BPM) is and how it can be used as the hub in the work of gaining control of and further developing the company’s value-creating and supporting processes.
    • What Value Stream Management (VSM) is and how it can be used to control and continuously improve the end-to-end performance of products and services. Financial performance, such as Profit and Loss (P&L) is included in this.
    • How Hoshin Kanri from Lean and the theories from the Green Belt course can be used to design the strategy implementation process.
    • How core values and Lean management principles establish a framework for behavior and decisions.
    • How to establish and further develop a program for internal business development (strategic improvement program).

    Diploma: To receive a diploma for confirmed successful completion, you must have attended 4 out of 5 course days.

    Certification: This course is part of Aksena’s Black Belt course. The requirements for becoming a certified Black Belt can be found in the description for the Business Black Belt course.
